The Road to Hana

Aloha.

Of all the beautiful places my wanderlust soul has wandered to... I can honestly say that Maui was my favorite of all. The island permanently stole my heart and I probably wont ever get it back. It is my "soul place". Kind of like a soul mate, but a destination. It is a very special place to me that gave me an overall euphoric, unique feeling of belonging. It just has this magical vibe that gives you empowerment and spiritual rejuvenation. Maui brings out all the human and love in me.

When you are a travel addict, you don't exactly know why you want to travel at first, your heart just tells you to go and you get this exciting tingly feeling and pack your bags. But then eventually we find that one place, our soul place. And then we realize what we have been looking for the entire time. <3

This blog post isn't all about my trip to Maui, but about "The Road to Hana". Hana Highway is proof that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. And no visit to Maui is complete without a ride through the winding road to Hana.

The Road to Hana is only 52 miles long and there is so much to see and do along the way. Some may think they can knock it out in an hour or two but it will take you a whole day, if not two. The highway starts in Paia, a cute little hippie town in Maui, and ends in a farm town called Hana. It really is all about the journey, not the destination. The road has 617 hairpin curves going up a mountain and 59 one-lane bridges. I promise you though, the "dangerous" highway is worth all of the incredible beautiful waterfalls, fragrant flowers and leis, fresh pineapple, and a spiritual enlightening feeling you will fall in love with. So rent a car, pack a backpack, and just go!!!

-What do to on the Road to Hana-

There are TONS of waterfalls on Hana highway. Stop at as many as you can, each one is a little different than the last. There is twin falls about two miles into the trip. Upper Waikani falls, Pua' a Kaa Wayside Park, Hanamai falls, Makapipi, Kipakulu National Park, Paiki falls, and Wailua falls, and many more!!! Let the bikini adventure begin <3

There are also some food stops and shopping a long the way. Make sure you pick up a loaf of banana bread! Also get a sweet treat at Coconut Glen's ice cream shop!

Hike the Bamboo Forest

The Garden of Eden

(Jurassic Park was fimed here) but the hikes through the gardens right on a breath taking view of the pacific! I also said "yes" to marrying my bestfriend at this particular spot!

The Road to Hana has so many beach spots and not one beach is the same! It is every beach bumming bikini addicts dream! Some of the best beach spots are Hamoa Beach, Keane Peninsula, Wai'anapanapa (black sand beach), Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach (in Hana), The Venus pools (cliff jumping), Chings pond (take a dip), Seven Sacred pools, Hana Bay beach, and Koki Beach.

And at the end of the road.... the Maui sunset is all worth it! <3
